change of venue for LARAAJI's concert (sunday, the 11th, 6pm)
<2015/10/09>

Due to the almost certainty of rain next sunday, Laraaji’s show will happen at the Barreiro Jazz School (where we had the chance to witness Matana Roberts last night)

The hours remain the same, and admission is free (up to the venue’s capacity).

OUT.FEST 2015
<2015/09/13>

The 12th OUT.FEST will be one of celebration, boasting a renewed, always adventurous spirit.

The 21 concerts we’ll present over 4 days, between the 8th and the 11th October, will highlight, as usual, but with evermore pride and strength, the international creative community and it’s incredible range of genres and generations, and particularly the evergrowing vitality of the Portuguese music fringes, adding up to a third of this year’s programme.

Barreiro, the city so intimately connected to the festival, and always one of its main stars, will again be explored and discovered under new prisms, with three new venues opening its doors to our music for the first time, three venues which represent essential parts of the past and the future of this community: the Baía do Tejo Industrial Museum, right at the heart of the city’s iconic industrial park; ADAO, a new collaborative effort to rehabilitate the city’s former main Fire Department building, and finally the Conde de Ferreira school, the city’s oldest educational facility, now in the hands of three local associations, rebuilding it to serve as a centre for integration through the arts.

The music, all of it essential, all of it full of discovery, adventure and of an incessant quest for new paths of expression, will bring to Barreiro artists such as RUSSELL HASWELL, the iconic AMM, celebrating in 2015 fifty (!) years of a career in defining and redefining improvised music, the finnish maestro VLADISLAV DELAY, the north-american luminaries that are MATANA ROBERTS, ZS and LARAAJI, and a national contingent headlined by the increasingly international GALA DROP or NIAGARA, and the Japanese horn-blower AKIRA SAKATA.

Note also that, due to the artists’ need to cancel all european dates on the period around OUT.FEST, The Magic Science Quartet will not be a part of the festival programme.

The full global pass and day tickets are already available for purchase at http://outfest.bol.pt/, and also, from the end of the week, at the Barreiro Turism Post, Fórum Barreiro Information Desk or at the Lisbon record shop FLUR.

First bands confirmed
<2015/08/06>

Very proud to annouce the first confirmed acts for the 12th OUT.FEST, happening between October 8th -11th.

From the unique north-american narrative led by Matana Robert’s saxophone, whose “Coin Coin” series has given birth to one of this year’s most impressive records, to the national premiere of a quartet that celebrates the meeting between two absolute jazz legends, Henry Grimes and Marshall Allen, all the way to the unmistakable sound of Laraaji’s Peace Garden, we keep trailing paths to new sounds and new shapes.

Check out all of the confirmed acts here.
