Working regularly over this last year, this trio gathers three different generations of musicians with a really strong presence in Lisbon’s music scene. Miguel Mira is a sweeping cellist whose sprawling concert schedule and regular work with one of the key jazz combos in Portugal - Rodrigo Amado Motion Trio - show him in the peak of his powers. Working with bow and pizzicato, continuously pushing his music forward to a more progressive place, here he finds himself alongside Afonso Simões, an improviser with more than ten years of work, particularly active with Gala Drop in these last few years. Continuing his interest with polyrhythms, Simões creates a pulsating approach to the drums, quite singular in the context of contemporary improvisation. Pedro Sousa is a tenor and baritone saxophonist who keeps growing exponentially as a musician through healthy collaborations with almost everyone in the city that really matters, be it in the fields of jazz, rock, noise or experimental music. Constantly evolving, his playing carries all the energy and spark of his punk leanings to mutating space of swirling lines and almost tangible melodies.
