ADAO – ASSOCIAÇÃO DESENVOLVIMENTO ARTES OFÍCIOS

RABU MAZDA & VAN AYRES

A duo of extremely potent and young creativity, it brings together two of the most interesting musicians recently coming out of the Lisbon community operating with new music.

Rabu Mazda is the heteronym for Leonardo Bindilatti, the diabolical and mercurial drummer for meta-glam-punk unit Putas Bêbadas, guitar player for the hibernated Kimo Ameba, producer and backing vocals for Iguanas, and integral part of the Kridinhux duo; he’s also producing a lot of the good music being done right now in the capital, while also being known for some of the most effective and positively globalist dj sets.

Van Ayres, Rafael Ayres, excluding this regular collaboration, has been dedicating himself in solo mode to creating a future pop, sometimes both instrumental and vocal, while in others he executes and organizes his tracks like true neo-mutant sculptures, somewhere between pop, the disassembling and reinvention of more plastic dance music and a psico-future-tropical new age.

It’s also within these vocabularies that traverse their most recent duo work, drawing up in concert some seemingly infinite torrents of new ideas and musical structures, traveling through whatever vocabularies trigger their voracious creative curiosity - everything that seems interesting and is stimulating dealt with as a precious tool. For now, and in anticipation, the reference for their music still is ‘Acacia’, released on the Cafetra imprint, documenting the luminous first meeting of the souls at hand here.
