ADAO – ASSOCIAÇÃO DESENVOLVIMENTO ARTES OFÍCIOS

ZS

Founded in 2000 by the tenor saxophonist and composer Sam Hillmer, Zs formation has varied through the years from a sextet to a duo, being its current consolidated line up constituted by Hillmer, Patrick Higgins on electric guitar (with relevant CV as a composer for chamber orchestras, string quartets and contemporary music ensembles, as well as for OSTs for television, films and exhibitions in museums) and Greg Fox on drums (also a member of the loved/loathed Liturgy, self-proclaimed originators of ‘transcendental black metal’ based out of Brooklyn). Hell bent motivated to test the physical and mental limits of the instrumentalists themselves and their listeners, the band has always fought against and beyond the tautologic lineage of NYC experimental music, and have received critical validation and affection from their creative peers for their processual radicalness and individualist fierceness. Specially this trio that thought out, played and released at the beginning of this year the record “Xe”, inspired by the whirlwind on the road between the US and Europe in more recent years as opposed to the prior more unstable existence, produces a pre-eminence of rigorous extreme music that is one of the most contemporarily acute to the human capacities of imagination and expression that will keep on surprising those who continue to be curious and conscientious for non standardized music.
