ADAO – ASSOCIAÇÃO DESENVOLVIMENTO ARTES OFÍCIOS

GOLDEN TEACHER

Musical and performative group based out of Glasgow, devotee of party and ritualistic celebration, encopassing alien rocksteady pulse to techno excursions hybridized with soulful live percussions on their innovative aesthetic tactics, Golden Teacher charmfully resist to style categorizations that don’t really matter, even the good intentioned “psychedelic” tag only because they chosen to wear a name of a strain of magical mushrooms. Considering as a starting point the Glasgow Art School to where all members of GT enrolled to come to study, and then the first encounters and rehearsals at the local and influent Green Door Studios that held musical production courses and access to various techniques and studio equipment, the sextet is comprised by two vocalists, the native Cassie Oji and the parisian Charles Lavenac, and the multi-instrumentists Richard McMaster, from New Jersey, new yorker Sam Bellacosa and the english Laurie e Ollie Pitt, originally from York. They have performed live extensively on their city originating a fervorous cult, released 2 galvanizing EPs on Optimo Records and ventured playing out throughout Britain in cities as London and Sheffield (accounts of full nudity in the audience abound) plus incursions on continental euroland. “Sometimes the best parties are the weirdest ones” declared McMaster in an interview, and that is a reflexion of the praxis of the group itself, that rehearses what it records and records what rehearses, thinking in the results they would like to achieve though when missing, attaining new fields of sonic action inarguably ready for gregarious experience in live shows, their style of “party music”, in the spirit of other great rebel gangs such as Sly & The Family Stone or the Happy Mondays. They’re coming to OUT.FEST with their brand new and progressive “Sauchiehall Enthrall” EP, a self-released edition, freshly arrived at record stores.
