A relatively recent duo that joins Leonor Arnaut’s voice with Ricardo Martins’ drums and modular synths. Arnaut is a young musician with an academic jazz background who’s been crossing boundaries outside any established canon through collaborations with artists like Yaw Tembe, Mariana Dionísio or Norberto Lobo. Martins is a revered figure around these (and other) parts, ever since the late great Lobster, through all the uncountable bands he is and was part of and, more recently, in his solo path (whose debut happened at the OUT.FEST in 2009), where he crosses his hyperactive drumming with the potentialities of modular synths. In this conjuration, Arnaut’s voice, clean and processed, functions both as an anchor and a vanishing point, giving shape to these mutating almost-songs.Photo: Vera Marmelo
