One of the fastest-rising collectives in Portugal's trap scene, Junkie Money was born in the wake of COVID through a network of connections forged across Discord and Instagram, before those virtual exchanges gradually spilled onto the streets and into creative gatherings in one another's homes. Now comprising 18 members, from rappers and producers to close collaborators working across video, photography and visual art, they have steadily forged a collective identity that is unmistakably their own, rooted in the shared impulses and imaginations of its individual members. With the openly acknowledged influence of crews such as Surf Gang and Slayworld now firmly in the rear-view mirror, Junkie Money have been carving out compelling new intersections between trap and kuduro, reflecting the Angolan roots of several of its members while remaining entirely their own. Expect a packed stage (featuring Bloodyfranko, G6Revy, xandre, ukiyø, HeyRicoo, Littleboy55k, 1Goshi, Xando, wi1nter, Oxyn, DJ Frescodrip) and a palpable sense of urgency.
