Coming to life on this New Year’s Eve, FARPAS is a trio composed of musicians from different parts of the country - Almada, Lisbon and Oporto - whose distinct background comes together in this raw conjuration. Comprised of Miguel Abras on bass and vocals, António Feiteira on drums and Guilherme Rodrigues on alto sax and electronics, FARPAS feed on each character’s trajectory - covering ample ground, from jazz to skewed rock, from songwriting to free improvisation - to inhabit a new common ground open to possibilities. Abras’ near apocalyptic lyricism serves as a hypothetical narration to music that goes from shards of noise to moments of speculative contemplation and hypnotic passages driven by a krautrock pulse, without following any obvious progression. Dub’s sense of space, free jazz fire, rock’s nervous energy and rarefied electronics come together in honest collusion.
