Donna Candy

A trio based between Brussels and Marseille that's been causing quite a stir in recent times through their flaming live apparitions and one record – Blooming – released last year in a joint venture between KRAAK, bison, Swallowing Helmets and Isola Records. Based on a noisy triangulation of bass, drums and voice, Donna Candy present themselves in communion with the audience, as a collective process of catharsis and liberation. Forged in the sludgy riffs of Js Donny, the convulsive drums of Sila Latz and the hallucinatory and effects-drenched vocals of Nadja Meier, Donna Candy's music summons something like a headbanging trance ritual through a combustion of noise rock and esoteric metal, forgoing the usual machismo for a welcome queer euphoria. Rock on the verge of collapse, in a spiritual alignment with names like Butthole Surfers, Sightings or Guttersnipe.
