“Assembling a Black Counter Culture”: DeForrest Brown Jr. & Margarida Mendes

DeForrest Brown Jr. - performing as Speaker Music in this edition of OUT.FEST – is a rhythmanalyst, writer, and curator. His written work explores the links between the Black experience in industrialized labor systems and Black innovation in electronic music.

In this talk he will present his debut book “Assembling a Black Counter Culture”, alongside Margarida Mendes, a researcher, curator, artist, and educator, exploring the overlap between systems thinking, experimental film, sound practices, and ecopedagogy.
