Alias of João Rochinha, co-founder of the Rotten\Fresh and surf labels and Living Room collective, host of the commendable 'For 0' show on Radio Quântica and an overall young and generous agitator of electronic movements happening here and through virtual communities. As usof, Rochinha wears the ambient tag without many troubles, despite the unnecessary hype around it in the last couple of years, through a dignified and brave approach that recognizes the tropes of the genre but deploys them in unique and ingenious ways, without succumbing to bandwagonesque contemplation or pseudo-emotional somnambulance. Selections 2, released this year, doesn't need any sort of buzz for validation. An organic sequence from volumes 0 and 1, pushes the ideas contained there into an increasingly personal language, constructed from pads in amniotic suspension, textural percussion and an attention and care to detail and the composition that keeps things flowing and brimming with life.
