Širom

A Slovenian trio born from the minds and hearts of Ana Kravanja, Iztok Koren and Samo Kutin, they legitimately refer to their own music as “imaginary folk”. With a huge arsenal of acoustic instruments - mostly handmade by themselves - including the likes of an ocarina, a banjo, a viola, a balafon, and others with no name, Širom develop compositions that blur any specific geography in search of an oneiric and elevated place - like an hypnotic ritual owing to Slovenian folklore, Don Cherry’s Organic Music Society, the freak commune of No Neck Blues Band or Jon Hassell’s fourth world, but invoking their own spirits. Last year the band released their fourth album, ‘The Liquified Throne of Simplicity’ via Glitterbeat Records, to universal acclaim. Photo: Uroš Abram
