Solitary vessel of this Finnish-Luxemburgian artist who goes by the name of Maria Rossi, Cucina Povera reflects this Italian culinary concept, which sublimates the use of humble ingredients and techniques. Music that unfolds from an apparent meagerness of sources: cheap synths, skewed loops and processed vocals that conjure an oneiric state impregnated with beauty, not completely detached from the idiosyncrasies of the Finnish freak folk scene built around Fonal, Orphan Fairytale's enchantments or the pre-sleep stasis of Grouper. With releases on such labels as Night School or Primordial Void and collaborations with Haron and Ben Vince revealing an increasingly personal vision, Cucina Povera arrives at OUT.FEST on the heels of the gliding 'Seesteyttää', a pensive record that feels like a ritual to escape nowadays’ information overload.
