Ascension!
The shape of the 22nd OUT.FEST is now complete and set loose in the world. With this final wave of announcements, the map of four days of concerts, installations, cinema, talks, walks, encounters and other ways of inhabiting music finally falls into place.
Among the final additions are bujiwa, Sofia Nunes & Marta Nunes' requiem for a knitting machine; the extended stay in Barreiro of Xavier Paes & Inês Tartaruga Água, whose investigations into matter and vibration will punctuate every day of the festival; a sound walk led by OUT.RA's 2026 grantee Alëna Koleso through one of Barreiro's wild hidden gems; an inaugural convivium with musical selections by Paixão; a deeper exploration of Phill Niblock's work within the festival through an immersion into its intermedia dimension; a listening room devoted to the subterranean histories of the 20th century's music of the future, as told by Sub Rosa; and a conference entirely dedicated to questions of music and (dis)ability, also marking the beginning of the final stretch of the European project tekhnē.
