GHOST DUBS

(Germany)
* National premiere
An inexhaustible source of inspiration, the magic conjured at the mixing desk by Jamaican pioneers like King Tubby and Lee "Scratch" Perry continues to be invoked today, in forms that draw on their spiritual and material teachings to breathe new life into dub. Moving beyond the Caribbean, the innovations of Rhythm & Sound, Pole, or The Bug, over the past decades, have carved out their own languages around the genre’s potential, and it’s within this same continuum that we find the visions of Michael Fiedler aka GHOST DUBS. A more than fitting name for music that summons urban ghosts around dub’s deep foundations - through vaporous textures, debris from a dissolving reality, and the inevitable echoes and rhythmic accents. On “Damaged” and its follow-up “Extended Damaged Versions”, released on Pressure (The Bug’s label), GHOST DUBS performs a narcotic act of total immersion, delivering steppers as reverent to tradition as they are rooted in revealing it anew.
