OUT.FEST 2024: full line-up revealed

The full lineup for the 20th edition of the Barreiro Exploratory Music Festival has been revealed, featuring 17 new names joining the 16 previously announced.

This latest wave includes seven absolute debuts in Portugal, such as the new project uniting Nídia with percussionist Valentina Magaletti, whose debut album arrives this September, the American duo H31R, the British turntablist Mariam Rezaei, the Japanese duo KAKUHAN, a project by Koshiro Hino (goat jp), the appropriately named trio France , and the queer, cathartic noise of Dreamcrusher

On the national front, highlights include the return of the celebrated saxophonist Rodrigo Amado with his new formation Unity (along with Gabriel Ferrandini, Rodrigo Pinheiro, and Hernâni Faustino), the trio Inês + Arianna + Violeta (Inês Malheiro, Arianna Caselas, and Violeta Azevedo), and the debuts of Tomé Silva and Zancudo Berraco.

The festival will also feature Nkisi, Jules Reidy and OKO DJ. With the daily lineups now announced, it’s also worth noting the return of OUT.FEST Sundays, this year with an extended matinee featuring Ghosted (Oren Ambarchi, Johan Berthling, and Andreas Werliin), ojoo, sòn du maquís and Chuquimamani-Condori. These acts will join previously announced artists DJ Anderson do Paraíso and carolf for a celebration of the festival’s two decades at the SCR Paivense community space.

This 20th anniversary edition of OUT.FEST will also include a photography exhibition by Vera Marmelo in the city center, the launch of a commemorative book , and a conversation with DeForrest Brown Jr. (performing at the festival as Speaker Music) and researcher and curator Margarida Mendes.
