Lê Quan Ninh

Lê Quan Ninh is a French percussionist, active both as an interpreter in contemporary classical music and as a dynamic agent in the world of free improvisation, where he has established himself as an acclaimed soloist and in-demand collaborator. He graduated with distinction from the Conservatoire de Versailles and in 1986 he formed Quatuor Hêlios, a group which (until its extinction in 2012) recorded and played percussion pieces for John Cage, among other composers. He is a regular among groups combining improvised acoustic and electroacoustic music with other disciplines like performing arts such as dancing, experimental cinema or photography. Lê Quan Ninh is also the autor of a vast discography published by a number of labels and the book “Improviser Librement. Abécédaire d’une experience”, published in 2014.
