Open Mind Ensemble

A Lisbon based group – for the most part – comprised of some notable figures within the jazz and improvisation scenes in the country (with sax player Francisco Andrade, one of Barreiro’s greatest jazz musicians, among them), combining free improvisation with the musical direction of Luís Bragança Gil, whose guidance intervenes in the musicians creative process – Miguel Mira on cello, Bruno Parrinha on clarinet and soprano sax, Luís Vicente on trumpet, Albert Cirera on sax, Paulo Pimentel on piano and Vasco Furtado on drums. Creating a musical structure in real time, the results are filled with different languages and contrasts, which paradoxically, elevates both dimensions: a very personal and individual creation from the musician, and a brilliant group cohesion.
