Putas Bêbadas

Part of that vital and nonconformist crew that is Cafetra, a Lisbon based label and collective responsible for some of the most promising music of the last few years, Putas Bêbadas represent the most vicious and brawling side of rock. Comprised of members from bands such as Passos em Volta, Kimo Ameba or Iguanas, they embody the spirit of Cafetra at his wildest and noisier, turning Punk into an enveloping vortex of sound, from where unintelligible arise spitting platitudes as stupid as dangerously real, with a skewed sense of irony – something expected from a band whose name translates as “drunken whores”. Rock bordering on noise, in the bastard tradition of names like Germs, Dead C or Les Rallizes Dénudés, which granted them some fine compliments from Julian Cope about their debut record ‘Jovem Excelso Happy’ and a live performance at the excellent Kraak festival in Belgium.
