Peter Evans

New York based trumpeter Peter Evans has distinguished himself as one of the most evolved and advanced musicians working in a field that manages to connect the history and practice of the instrument, within the areas of jazz and modern composition, setting a route towards the advancement of those shapes. Emerging on an advanced state of maturation of such lineages, where the melodic and harmonic processes find themselves in a continuum state of evolution, informed by all kinds of post-modern collateral effects and the shape of jazz until Coltrane, and from then on, visionaries like Evan Parker, Anthony Braxton and others. He debuts on OUT.FEST with his phenomenal quintet, comprised of Jim Black, Sam Pluta, Tom Blancarte and Ron Stabinsky, that ignited a truly justified reverence and comotion within the jazz spectre with the release of his debut and only record so far, ‘Ghosts’, on his own label More is More. Furthermore, Evans will present a Masterclass at the local Jazz School, in the afternoon preceding his concert.
